It has to be said (since I had one previous run-in with the legal department of the LEGO company, but that's neither here nor there), that this page is in no way affiliated with the LEGO Company (Canada or otherwise) and is not endorsed by the aforementioned company.

With much fanfare and hoopla...
(k, no fanfare and/or hoopla, but still...)
Blockstacking again! RTLToronto has run 2 previous blockstacking competitions in the past. WIth much anticipation I signed up for this one as well.
The idea--send your 'bot out into the field and gather and stack as many blocks as you possibly can. The highest stack wins! Shouldn't be too hard now, should it!

This was my little neck of the woods--my programming and testing area in the Library. Since I had sooo much to fix on the 'bot, I didn't leave htis area much.
This is the first competition where I used 2 RCX's. See the programs:

| I was not the only one running into 'gremlins' in the machine--Steve and Rob are trying to do some quick diagnosing and fixing on their 'bot. |

 |
Bruce didn't seem to have too many issues with his 'bot--other than the tempermental grabber. |
 |
Bruce's stacking 'bot makes a tower of 5! Very nice! |
 |
A young fan of LEGO Technic brought his 'dog'! The dog shakes its headwhen you spin the tail! Very neat!
Ka-On checks out his 'bot. |

Greg works on his 'bot.
More pics of the competition. |

Few pics of my 'bot in a competition. |

Bruce and Ka-On's 'bots with their respective towers. |

Greg's 'bot decides to have a nervous breakdown on the field.
An impromtu 'Battle Royale' of sorts--all the 'bots on the field. |

 |
Chris and others dismantling the arena |
| The whole lot of us! |

I always appreciated the different ways folks come up with to handle the same scenario. The grabbing/stacking mechanisms were all different in this particular competition.
Thanks to Calum and Chris for running the event. I'm looking forward to March '03!
