It has to be said (since I had one previous run-in with the legal department of the LEGO company, but that's neither here nor there), that this page is in no way affiliated with the LEGO Company (Canada or otherwise) and is not endorsed by the aforementioned company.

Work had a 'Pumpkin Carving Contest'. My cohort in crime, Scott, came up with a brilliant plan--if one of the categories for judging is 'Best work themed pumpkin', then have a Laidlaw bus go 'round and 'round...
I was asked if I could build some sort of LEGO contraption that would do just that. Unfortunately, rules stipulated that all carving could only be done at work and starting at 9:30 a.m. and done by 11--that only gave us 1.5 hours to make the thing look good and work well.
'Not a problem!' I said. So here's the result--Using two motorized large turntables and attachment points, the bus goes 'round and 'round one way, and the clouds go 'round and 'round the other way.
Made for a very nifty display. The little buildings and people from carved pumpkin pieces worked as well.

What Scott and I didn't realize whilst carving the pumpkin, was that the result looks like a face--with the top clouds being eyes, the sun as the nose, the buildings as teeth, etc...
Anyway, we liked it.
Oh, and we won best pumpkin overall, as well as best work themed display.
Kinda looks like something from South Park, doesn't it?

The teeth--a la 'Da 'Hood!'
Taking it apart at the end of the day.

Here's the general tree of motors/support. You can see the red technic beams I had to put in to reinforce the supports for the bus--who knoew that a pumpkin bus could be so heavy...
Full Speed!!

After putting my copy of the first Technic 'Super Car' (Set 956) together (first time since the early '80's), I was feeling nostalgic for some of the old Technic sets.
I decided to rebuild the first Technic set I ever owned--Set 854. Mom bought me this set soon after 'The Big Melt' (circa 1979) (see details of said incident somewherez else here on my site) to basically stop me from whining about all my destoyed LEGO bricks.
After putting the set together last night, I thought I'd do a little tribute to the 854 by, well, the pictures will tell the story.

So I bought some shelves from the local Zellers ($19.95 each unit--you can't get the lumber that cheap!) and whapped them together.
Doesn't look all that bad, if you ask me!

What's really sad is that, when you look at my LEGO collection this way, it really doesn't look like I own much. Eh, whatever. |

My LEGO collection meets EQ...
|
 |
Whilst cleaning up my LEGO collection, I stumbled across a few minifigs that reminded me of EverQuest
Not wanting to miss any opportunity to combine two of my favourite past-times, I set up this little scene.

Here are 7 Valiant Crusaders taking on the hordes of evil! |

 |
It was fun putting this little scene together. It was done quickly so don't mind the anachronisms, like the train track and the roads ;) |

Packing up for the move, I thought it would be a great opportunity to take a picture of my collection
|
Getting the collection ready for the move was done whilst listening to Beethoven and Mozart on www.beethoven.com.
All pictures on this page were taken with the Official camera of Runamok Productions, the Kodak DC120. It just won't die, and now that I bought a house, I can't afford another digital camera.
I built the wooden box when I was around 12 or 13 years old--that should explain the lining of said box.
