It has to be said (since I had one previous run-in with the legal department of the LEGO company, but that's neither here nor there), that this page is in no way affiliated with the LEGO Company (Canada or otherwise) and is not endorsed by the aforementioned company.

A LEGO clock! Completely made with LEGO pieces! I have thought about this for a long time, but could not imagine how to begin this daunting task. That is, until I came across this page:
Leo Dorst LEGO Clock page.
Then the problem was he wanted way too many fancy pieces for the mechanisms inside the clock. SO I put that on hold for a while.
|
I put the clock on hold until I came across this page:
Eric Harshbarger's grandfather clock
He made these fancy pieces out of regular LEGO plates. I'm in. I first tried it his way, then opted out for the one you see to the right--less friction. It works very nice.
By the by, this isn't the fancy clock at my mom's place. That's rather a wee bit bigger (though not as big as Eric's)
I just don't know where to put this one. Oh well... |

I visited my mom this Mothers Day and bought her a 'real' clock, so I got this one back. It's been about 15 years since I had built it. |

Here the clock sits on the back of my pickup truck gate. |

This clock has a few special features--It doulbled as a piggy bank. The windows on the back showed how full it was. I also ran out of red 1xn's so I used yellow to finish it. |
| I brought the clock home. I thought it would last more than a day in my abode, but I remembered a few coveted pieces in said time keeping device. I had dropped the clock from 4 feet in this picture--note how it didn't break too much. |

So I dropped it again. This time it decided to break a bit. |

Here are the coveted pieces I remembered building into the clock 15 years ago. I never used the garage door pieces as garage doors before, but now that I'm into LEGO trains, watch out! As well, I also remembered that I had an ultra secret compartment built into the clock--if you turned one of the circular greebles on the top of the clock, a door slid away exposing the compartment. |

Here's the pile of LEGO bricks that used to be a clock. And here's a 4x4 driving over the mountainous terrain! |
